Title: How to Start a Project Off on the Right Foot

Speaker: Afua Bruce

In this presentation, the speaker will discuss the what, why, and how of strategic planning – including gaining buy-in for the project, identifying stakeholders, and gathering requirements. The discussion will focus on setting a vision for a project and bringing project members together for a successful team dynamic. Attendees should come prepared to discuss techniques for team management and starting a project off on the right foot.

 

About the Speaker:

ABrucecroppedAfua Bruce has performed strategic and program management on science and technology projects throughout the Federal government. Earlier this year, she completed an assignment at the White House's Office of Science and Technology Policy where she oversaw approximately 100 Federal inter-agency working groups covering a variety of topics in Science, Technology, Homeland and National Security, Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Education, Environment, Natural Resources, and Sustainability. She previously performed strategy and program management throughout the DOJ’s Science and Technology Branch, covering budget and personnel allocation, communication, requirements management, customer engagement, research and development prioritization, and the strategic planning process. Prior to joining the DOJ, Afua was a software engineer in IBM's Systems and Technology Group. Afua has a degree in Computer Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

Early bird registration ends at midnight on Wednesday, January 3. Online registration closes at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, January 9.
