Main Presentation:

Title:  Metrics for PMBOK, Teamwork, Determining Performance Objectives and everything else!

Speaker: Mel Schnapper, Ph.D.

Topic Summary:

Mel will demonstrate a performance results methodology that will enable participate to equate rigorous performance measures with results for themselves and project/task teams for mutual clarity and defining results for which they get paid to produce.

Learning Objectives:

Purpose: To acquaint participants with two levels of the 3M’s (Measure, Manage, Magnify) system of measuring, managing and improving all levels of performance.

Objectives: As a result of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  1. 1. Define the total value of individual and team level performance contributions as measured by the proportionate value of their Key Value Areas(KVA).
  2. 2. Develop at least one Performance Objective per KVA that has a weighting, measures and 3 standards of performance.
  3. 3. Those who attend with a project team member will be able to develop measures of interdependent tasks and objectives.
  4. 4. Apply the 3Ms methodology to any performance dimension of participant’s job.

About the Speaker:

mel speaker july 2018Mel is a dependent consultant and the founder and past Chair of the Metrics Specific Interest Group (SIG) of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and a leading expert in the development of metrics for measuring, managing and improving performance. His approach to metrics comes from his training in Organization Behavior (metrics are social products), Linguistics (metrics must have a common meaning amongst those who work together) and corporate project management when he was Quality Manager for Oracle Corporation’s, Global Project Management Service Line.

His current consulting activity is in the areas of: performance management systems, career development, succession planning, leadership skills, teamwork skills and, of course, measuring the effectiveness of all of these interventions. In addition to his US-based corporate roles as Director of OD/Training for the Quaker Oats Company, Chicago Board Options Exchange, G.D. Searle Pharmaceuticals in Chicago, his international consulting activity has been in 26 countries bringing his metrics approach to democratization, government reform and institutional capacity building.

And writing his next book on “The Metrics of Relationships”.  Mel is a native Washingtonian, and, now after ~20 years of living out of a suitcase, he is back home to stay and pursue local/domestic consulting. More about Mel at: www.schnapper.com

Discounts: $40 for early bird online registrants; $30 for students

Early Bird Online Registration - Pre-register and pay online during the early bird registration period to receive a $10 discount on registration.

  • With early registration, students will only pay $20; non-students pay only $40. 
  • Early bird registration ends at midnight the Wednesday prior to the Chapter meeting.

Student Online Registration - Students must enter the code STUDENT in the Coupon field when registering in order to pay only $30 (or $20 if registering during “early bird” period!), and must show their student ID at the registration desk the day of the meeting.


Cancellation Policy:
