Topic Summary     

Before a project comes to fruition, a business case has to be made to an organization’s senior leadership as to why it should invest the resources to undertake the project. In order to make a winning case for a project it takes research and number crunching to be able the address the questions that the leadership will have about the proposed project. Leadership may ask questions like… What is this project about? How does it align with our mission? What stakeholders are going to be involved in the project? Will we have their support for project? How much will it cost? What is the proposed schedule for the project? What are the risks that could keep us from being successful? How do we address them so that we can be successful? What benefits will we get from the project? Do the benefits outweigh the cost of the project? How much do we expect the organization’s performance to improve and when will we see the improvements for the issues that it is meant to address? Learn what it takes to answer these questions and build a winning business case for your projects.

Attendees will learn the steps that it takes to develop a winning business case that addressed the questions that senior leadership and key stakeholders will want to know about your project. It will explain how write a business case that is strong enough to receive support from an organization.

About the Speaker

Teresa Allison

teresaallisonTeresa Allison is currently a Lead Associate at Booz Allen Hamilton. She is an IT Consultant with over 18 years of experience in the field of information technology consulting. She has served as a trusted advisor to CIOs and their staffs by providing them with solutions for addressing their management needs for multi-billion dollar federal information technology programs.

She has supported federal agencies with Health & Human Services, Homeland Security, Transportation, Financial Regulatory, Veterans Affairs, Diplomacy & Foreign Affairs, and International Development & Foreign Assistance missions.

Teresa is certified IT professional who currently holds the PMP, CGEIT, CSM, ITIL, Security+, CISA, CISSP, and Lean Six Sigma certifications. She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University’s H. John Heinz III College with a Master of Science in Public Policy and Management and minor in Management of Information Systems. She received her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Xavier University.

Early Bird Online $40

  • Pre-register and pay online during the early bird registration period to receive a $10 discount on registration

  • With early registration, students pay $20; non-students pay $40

  • Early bird registration ends at midnight on Tuesday, October 1.

Regular Online $50

  • Online registration (regular, non-early bird) closes at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, October 8 (the evening before the Dinner Meeting).

Student Online $30

  • Students must enter the code STUDENT in the coupon field when registering in order to pay $30 (or $20 if registering during “early bird” period!), and must show their student ID at the registration desk the day of the meeting

Walk-in, Day-of Registration $50

  • Walk-in registrations accepted with cash, check, or credit card
